“Thanks so much, Sakina! My son enjoyed attending the coding class, and he really learned how to write coding. I like the daily journal from email. I could keep track of their updates on what they learned every day. I like the way you divided the students into small groups from their different coding levels. This was an awesome way for them to focus on their on-level projects. Teachers to students ratio are 1:2-4. I received a prompt reply from mail every time. Very well organized teaching system!”

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is Codinu?
Codinu is an online coding academy for kids offering LIVE online coding classes to girls and boys ages 7-17. Our mission is to ignite a passion for technology in young minds and equip them to be technology creators, helping them write the future!
What is coding?
In simple terms, coding is giving instructions to a computer to perform a task. The instructions are given in a logical, step wise and a specific format in a language that computer understands. Coding is used to create software, apps, video games, animations, websites, and more technology that we see around us. Initially, young students are taught coding in a drag and drop programming language, to develop logical and algorithmic thinking. Then they move on to real-world text-based programming language to create real world applications to solve a problem.
Why does my child need to learn how to code?
In the current information and innovation age, everything around us is driven by technology. Whatever career or passion that your child pursues, be it computer science or not, it could medicine, fashion, film-making, or teaching, technology is everywhere. It is important that we take the kids on the other side of the gadgets or apps and equip them with the skills to be technology creators rather than mere consumers. Coding has become a necessary 21st century skill that ignites creativity and develops problem solving skills. Join us and empower your child to change the world with code!
Why Codinu?
At Codinu, our highly qualified teaching team is dedicated to building such learning environments that nudge the students to be creative thinkers and problem solvers, opening doors to newer perspectives and brighter ideas. From game-based projects to advanced algorithms. From individual focus to collaborative approach. We, at Codinu, sincerely believe in empowering the kids with the right tools and abilities, helping them write the future.
How do I register for a class?
The registration is through our website and is done via a third party tool named Sawyer. The process involves a few clicks to add the desired enrollment package to the cart followed by payment.
What are the various enrollment options?
Other than summer camps, we offer weekly coding classes. Here are the various enrollment options:
a. Monthly membership option: Starting in 2021, I am excited to offer the monthly membership option. This is the most flexible option in terms of class scheduling. Once you are a member, you receive 4 class spots for a month. You can schedule them anytime during the month. These spots reset every month. To register for a spot you will have to pick a drop in class for a desired date and on checkout, the system will apply the membership spots automatically.
b. 12-week session: This is currently our most popular option as this is something we have been offering all along. You may sign up for 12-week sessions at a time and to keep the momentum going, sign up for the following 12-week session or take a break, if you wish!
c. Codinu 365: Lastly, we have a yearly option Codinu 365 starting this year. You may sign up for Codinu 365 and save 300$. This ensures that your child progresses consistently each week and has a significant progress by the end of the year. In addition, you don't have to worry about signing up after every semester.
How does an online class work?
Say, a student named Vivienne, from New Jersey, logs on to her online coding class. She will be greeted by her instructor - Jen, who is highly qualified with a Master's degree in Computer Science and loves to teach kids. There will also be a TA in the class who may be a senior in high school or an undergrad student with a solid coding background. There are 3 other students in the online class from different places like Chicago, Atlanta, and Houston. All students are enrolled for the same coding language, however, they progress at their own pace and as per their level. Each student works independently on the project assigned to them. The instructor uses the virtual breakout session to provide 1:1 instruction or help debug a problem. At the end of the session, each student gets to share the project with their peers and get feedback.
How is the student progress tracked if they are at different levels?
Our curriculum has been evolving over the last 5 years that we have been in business. Currently, we have a very solid project based curriculum. Each level, be it in Scratch, Python, Java or JavaScript, has about 15-20 projects to be completed. Students work on their own respective projects. Our small class size and excellent student-instructor ratio allow us to give 1:1 attention to each child and to introduce the concepts relevant to that project. It is in fact a very collaborative environment as the students get to learn from one another as well.
What are the hardware and software requirements for the online coding class?
In order to attend the online coding class, your child would need the following:
(1) Desktop or laptop computer with a working camera, microphone, and speaker.
(2) WiFi or other high-speed internet connection.
The development environment for most of the courses is online so no other software installation is necessary.
